In the besieged enclave of Gaza, tensions continue to escalate as Israel intensifies its assault on Gaza City. The government responsible for the Gaza Strip, Hamas, has not reported any active measures for a mass evacuation of Gaza City's population. However, Israel has urged civilians to leave for the south of the Palestinian enclave.

The Red Cross President, Mirjana Spoljaric, has warned that a mass evacuation of Gaza City would not be safe or dignified under current conditions. She stated that an evacuation would exacerbate the severe shortages of food, shelter, and medical supplies in the Gaza Strip. No other area in the Gaza Strip is equipped to absorb a massive population displacement, as previously stated.

The intention of Israel, according to reports, is to destroy Hamas after nearly 23 months of conflict. Israel's plan is to occupy the entire Gaza Strip, starting with Gaza City. However, Spoljaric has emphasised that Israel has not ensured civilians' access to shelter, safety, and nutrition during evacuation orders, as required by international humanitarian law.

Many people in Gaza City are unable to follow evacuation orders due to starvation, illness, or injury. The global community continues to express outcry over these conditions, with Israel's actions still facing global criticism. The situation in Gaza is a pressing concern, and the international community is urging all parties to prioritise the safety and well-being of civilians.

As the situation in Gaza City remains volatile, the Red Cross and other humanitarian organisations are working tirelessly to provide aid and support to those in need. The global community stands united in its call for peace and a resolution to the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
