German authorities have planned to shut down their operations on Thursday, 11th of September.

On September 11, 2025, a nationwide Civil Defence Drill will take place across Germany. The Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK) is responsible for organising this annual event.

The drill aims to test the technical functionality of warning systems, ensuring comprehensive population information in case of an emergency. The exercise will commence at 11:00 AM with a one-minute all-clear signal, followed by a five-minute pause.

At approximately 11:45 AM, a one-minute warning signal with an ascending and descending tone will sound. This will be followed by five-minute pauses between each tone sequence. The warning signal will be broadcast via all previously used warning channels, including sirens, the modular warning system (MoWaS), and warning apps like NINA. Mobile network providers will also use the Cell-Broadcast system to transmit warning messages directly to mobile phones via SMS.

After the warning signal, there will be another five-minute pause. This will be followed by a one-minute all-clear signal with a constant tone, signifying the end of the drill.

The Civil Defence Drill is not only a test of warning systems but also an opportunity to raise public awareness about warnings. Residents are encouraged to provide feedback on the drill at www.warntag-umfrage.de.

The County of Gütersloh is also participating in the drill, testing its sirens on the same day.

The purpose of the drill is to ensure that the population is well-informed and prepared in the event of an emergency. By participating in the drill, individuals can contribute to a safer and more secure community.
