The Main Customs Office Frankfurt (Oder) has announced the arrival of an informative exhibition titled "Genuine Fake," which will be held at the BlechenCARRÈ shopping center in Cottbus from October 14, 2024, to November 2, 2024. This travelling exhibition, a collaboration between the Customs Museum and the "Central Office for Copyright Protection," aims to educate visitors about the risks and impacts of purchasing counterfeit products.

"Genuine Fake" is designed to sensitize visitors to the diverse dangers posed by counterfeit products. The exhibition will display various counterfeit items that initially appear genuine, including everyday items like sportswear brand t-shirts, sunglasses, and perfumes, as well as more unexpected products such as chainsaws, spray foam, and many others.

The exhibition provides insights into the aspects of trademark and product piracy, highlighting the negative impacts on the economy and local job market due to counterfeit products. One of the key concerns is the lack of warranty claims, which can lead to dissatisfaction and financial losses for consumers. Moreover, the exhibition aims to educate visitors about the health risks associated with the conscious or unconscious purchase of counterfeit or fake products.

For inquiries about the "Genuine Fake" exhibition, contact Astrid Pinz, Press Spokesperson at the Main Customs Office Frankfurt (Oder). You can reach her via phone at (0335) 563 1030, mobile at (0175) 9296 076, email at [email protected], or visit the official website at www.zoll.de.

The "Genuine Fake" exhibition is a timely reminder in the age of seemingly cheap online shopping, emphasizing the importance of being vigilant and informed when making purchases. The exhibition will be open to the public from Monday through Saturday, from 8:00 to 20:00. Don't miss this opportunity to learn more about the problem of fake products and how it affects us all.
