Germans' Team Discussion by Hoeneß:

In the "30 Years of 'Doppelpass'" anniversary show on Sport1, Uli Hoeneß, the honorary president of FC Bayern Munich, expressed his concerns about the current state of German football.

Recent losses in tournament finals have cast a shadow over the German national team. The team suffered a 0:2 defeat to Slovakia in the World Cup qualifiers and faced defeats in the Nations League final tournament against Portugal and France.

Hoeneß urged for more emphasis on discussing football in Germany rather than transfers. He warned against discussing the World Cup or even the title, suggesting that it might be achievable but the current circumstances are not favourable.

Stefan Effenberg, a Sport1 expert, shares Hoeneß's concerns. The series of defeats has left both men quite worried. Effenberg emphasised that the losses in the summer of the current year have been quite concerning.

Hoeneß also criticised the constant changes in team strategies by coaches. He emphasised the importance of playing with a well-rehearsed team in football. He believes that Julian Nagelsmann, the current head coach of the German national football team, is still the right man to lead the team, with his contract extended until the European Championship in 2028.

Nagelsmann's contract extension came at a crucial time, as the team prepares for the challenges ahead. The extension ensures that Nagelsmann will be at the helm for the 2026 World Cup, providing stability and continuity for the team.

Despite the recent setbacks, Hoeneß stated that he'd rather lose the first game than the last. He emphasised the need to focus on the essentials again, suggesting that the team should return to basics and play with a well-rehearsed strategy.

As the German national team continues its journey in the World Cup qualifiers and the Nations League, Hoeneß and Effenberg's voices serve as a reminder of the importance of maintaining focus and consistency in the face of adversity.
