Germany Tour Prologue Winners: Søren Wærenskjold Clinches Opening Stage Triumph

In the opening stage of the Deutschland Tour 2025, Søren Wærenskjold (Uno-X Mobility) clinched a thrilling victory in the prologue. The 3.1km race in Essan saw Wærenskjold edging out Samuel Watson (Ineos Grenadiers) by a fraction of a second.

Wærenskjold's triumph came off the back of his recent success at the Tour of Denmark, where he won a stage. His time of 3:31 minutes was just over one second faster than Marco Haller (Tudor Pro Cycling), who finished third.

The podium was rounded out by Watson in second place and Haller in third. Maximilian Schachmann (Bora-Hansgrohe) secured fourth, with Cees Bol (Team DSM) taking fifth. The seventh place was taken by Marc Hirschi (UAE Team Emirates), while Dylan Groenewegen (Team BikeExchange-Jayco) finished ninth. Stefan Küng (Groupama-FDJ) secured the eighth place.

Wærenskjold, who expressed feelings of excitement and nerves leading up to the race, revealed that this was his first prologue win in several years. The results of the prologue were powered by FirstCycling.

The Deutschland Tour continues to provide exciting racing action, with Wærenskjold setting a high standard in the opening stage. The next competition that Wærenskjold participates in after winning the Deutschland Tour 2025 is not yet known.
