Apple is set to introduce its newest iPhone lineup, headlined by the iPhone 17 and the slimmer iPhone 17 Air, at a special event on Tuesday. The event, themed "awe dropping", will take place in the Steve Jobs Theatre at Apple Park.

The iPhone 17 lineup is expected to bring several significant changes. For instance, the flash, mic, and light sensor on the iPhone 17 are planned to be placed on the right side. The iPhone 17 Air, Apple's entry into the slim-phone game, is expected to have a thickness of 5.5mm, making it the thinnest iPhone ever.

In terms of screen size, the base iPhone 17 might see a bump up from 6.1 inches to 6.3 inches. Meanwhile, the Pro and Pro Max variants are expected to have their camera block stretch the entire width of their rear.

Apple's new operating system, iOS 26, will be compatible with the iPhone 11 series, including the second and third generations of the iPhone SE, and the iPhone 16e. iOS 26 features a brand-new skin called Liquid Glass, which is a transparent and glossy design that reflects and refracts its surroundings, enhancing the interface's fluidity.

One of the standout features of iOS 26 is the integration of Live Translation into Messages, FaceTime, and the Phone app. This feature allows users to communicate seamlessly across languages. Additionally, text messages from unknown senders can be screened and filtered, with the option to ask for more details or delete them.

iOS 26 also simplifies app controls. For example, switching through modes in the camera app and relocating tabs for easier reach are now easier than ever. In Music, Apple added the ability to translate and pronounce lyrics in different languages and a new AutoMix function.

Apple Games, a new app housing everything about gaming, especially Apple Arcade, on the iPhone, has been added to iOS 26. Safari in iOS 26 knocks off the strip below the screen, replacing it with translucent spaces that blend with the page.

In Photos, iOS 26 introduces two main views: the general library and collections. To activate the translucent effect of Liquid Glass, users need to tap and hold on any app on the home screen and follow specific steps.

Interestingly, iOS 26 will enhance the capabilities of Apple's generative AI platform. The iPhone 17 Pro's base cost is reportedly expected to increase by $100, and it will allegedly lose its 128GB option, meaning users would get double the storage for only $50 more. The official price of the iPhone 17 Pro in Germany at its presentation on Sunday evening is 1,299 euros for the 256 GB model, 1,549 euros for the 512 GB model, and 1,799 euros for the 1 TB model.

iOS 26 also allows users to create polls within messages, adding a new layer of interactivity to conversations. The iPhone 17 lineup promises to be a game-changer, with its innovative features and sleek design, setting the stage for Apple's continued dominance in the smartphone market.
