The Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations has announced a new initiative to bridge the digital skills gap in Ghana. The digital skills training programme, aimed at the youth of Ghana, is a part of a broader effort to promote digital literacy in the country.

The programme, scheduled to last for three months, will focus on teaching programming languages such as Python and JavaScript. It will also cover topics like basic coding, software development, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity. The training curriculum is currently in use in Berlin for workforce development.

Code Raccoon Ltd Company has committed a €2 million investment into content development and delivery for the initiative. This investment is designated for content development and deployment systems, aimed at boosting youth training in coding, AI, and cybersecurity.

The proposed training program will help position participants for both local and remote job opportunities. The ministry emphasized the importance of aligning Ghana's youth with globally competitive digital skills to strengthen participation in the digital economy.

The collaboration between the ministry and Code Raccoon Ltd also aims to secure international certification from leading European technology firms. The dual accreditation is expected to boost the global employability of participants.

The National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) will accredit the training program locally. This ensures that the training meets the standards of Ghanaian education and prepares participants for the job market.

The digital skills training programme is a new initiative by the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations. Discussions about the programme were held on September 4, 2025, involving discussions with Code Raccoon Ltd Company about training 350,000 young people annually.

The programme is intended to help bridge the digital skills gap in Ghana, contributing to the broader effort to promote digital literacy in the country. By equipping the youth with the necessary digital skills, the programme aims to position Ghana as a key player in the digital economy.
