Ghana's VP Launches Initiatives Boosting Enterprise, Agriculture, and Education

Ghana's Vice President, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has been making headlines for her active role in promoting enterprise, agriculture, and education. Over the past few days, she has addressed entrepreneurs, celebrated teachers, and launched initiatives aimed at boosting productivity and national development.

Professor Opoku-Agyemang, serving under President John Dramani Mahama, began her busy schedule by addressing entrepreneurs at the University of Ghana. She stressed the importance of discipline, focus, and grit in enterprise, encouraging them to persevere in the face of challenges.

The Vice President then attended the Asogli Teza Yam Festival in Ho, using the yam as a symbol of resilience, productivity, and community. She highlighted the government's Feed Ghana and Nkoko Nkitsinkitsi programmes, which aim to restore agricultural dignity and productivity.

In Ho, she also celebrated teachers at the Ghana Teacher Prize celebrations. Professor Opoku-Agyemang praised their role as architects of the nation's destiny and announced the new Teacher Dabrɛ initiative and the forthcoming Digital Training Programme for teachers. She emphasized the importance of discipline, integrity, and mutual respect within the teaching fraternity.

Earlier this year, in April 2025, the Vice President launched the Adwumawura Programme. This initiative aims to support 10,000 young business founders, demonstrating her commitment to nurturing enterprise and entrepreneurship.

Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang's leadership style, described as both compassionate and competent, has been evident in her actions over the three days. From encouraging entrepreneurs to celebrating teachers and launching supportive programmes, she continues to command admiration and trust from Ghanaians.
