"Giadom Declares That Jonathan Is Eligible to Run for Presidency - APC Deputy National Chairman"
In a recent interaction with Punch, the Deputy National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South-South, Victor Giadom, has declared that leaders of the South-South region have already taken a firm position in support of President Bola Tinubu's re-election bid in 2027.
Giadom, who hails from Bere, Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State, pointed to specific infrastructure projects as evidence of Tinubu's progress in the region. These projects include the East-West Road, the Eleme section, the Bodo-Bonny Road, and HYPREP's work in Ogoniland.
The APC deputy chair expressed confidence that the party now enjoys massive grassroots support in the South-South. He dismissed suggestions that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition poses any challenge to Tinubu's re-election chances in 2027.
Giadom also expressed optimism that Bayelsa State may soon join the APC. However, he acknowledged that the governor of Bayelsa State in 2027 will most likely belong to the People's Democratic Party (PDP), as the current governor Douye Diri is a PDP member and chairs the PDP Convention Zoning Committee.
In a related development, the Chairman of Gokana LGA, Hon. Confidence Deko, won the elections under the platform of the APC. Deko described his victory as a reflection of his performance during his previous tenure as LG Chairman. The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) received praise for conducting a peaceful and fair election.
Deko expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for his support for the Ogoni people. This sentiment was echoed by Giadom, who warned that political leaders in the South-South will not support the presidential bid of former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2027.
The majority of South-South governors now belong to the APC, demonstrating the party's dominance in the region. Giadom stated that the decision to support Tinubu is based on the visible developmental strides of the Tinubu administration in the region. He also mentioned that the ADC does not exist in the South-South geo-political zone.
In conclusion, the South-South region seems to be solidifying its support for President Bola Tinubu's re-election bid in 2027, with the APC enjoying a significant grassroots following and the majority of governors already on board. The ADC, on the other hand, appears to have little presence or influence in the region.
