Global platform elevates 47 legal professionals to partners and directors on a global scale
In a move that underscores the firm's global reach and diverse offerings, XYZ has announced the promotion of 47 lawyers to partner and director positions, effective January 1, 2021. The promotions span 11 practice groups and represent a significant step forward for the firm's growth and development.
The promotions include Kevin Hong, who has been promoted to litigation and disputes in Hong Kong, and Ugendran Odayar, who has been promoted to corporate, M&A and securities in Durban, South Africa. In London, England, Zayed Al Jamil has been promoted to intellectual property, while Kaitlin Long and Andrew Reeves have been promoted to litigation and disputes. Steven Choi has been promoted to real estate/construction and engineering in Sydney, Australia, and Kate Findlay has been promoted to litigation and disputes in Toronto, Canada.
In banking and finance, Will Alete, Kirstin Russell, and Alexandre Roth have been promoted in London, England, and Mary Kimura has been promoted to banking and finance/public finance in San Francisco, USA. Angela Croker has been promoted to banking and finance in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and Noah Schein has been promoted to banking and finance in Toronto, Canada.
Other notable promotions include Gerry Pecht, the Global Chief Executive of XYZ, who commented on the promotions, highlighting the global nature of the firm and its diverse offerings. In addition, Laila Paszti has been promoted to corporate, M&A and securities/data protection, privacy and cybersecurity in Toronto, Canada, and Reneé Loiselle has been promoted to corporate, M&A and securities in Montréal, Canada.
The promotions also include 25 female lawyers, representing 53% of the promotions. Notable female promotions include Katie Van Dyk, who has been promoted to real estate in Austin, USA, and Tamlyn Mills, who has been promoted to litigation and disputes in Sydney, Australia. In Singapore, Katie Chung has been promoted to litigation and disputes.
The promotions span 11 practice groups, with litigation and disputes seeing the most promotions (14 lawyers), followed by corporate, M&A and securities (10), banking and finance (9), employment and labor (4), bankruptcy, financial restructuring and insolvency (3), real estate (3), risk advisory (2), tax (2), data protection, privacy and cybersecurity (1), and intellectual property (1), and projects (1).
In Europe, Dr. Angelica Maria Schwarz and Kerim Tbaishat were promoted to partners at Kellerhals Carrard in Zurich, effective January 1, 2025. Additionally, Dr. Hannes Jacobi was promoted to partner at Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer in Frankfurt, effective May 2025, and Augustin Barrier was promoted to partner at LALIVE as of January 1, 2025, with a focus on international arbitration involving Europe and Africa.
In South Africa, Sa'ood Lahri was promoted to litigation and disputes in Johannesburg, and Bryce Perrett was promoted to litigation and disputes in Durban. In the Americas, Jay Edward Slovacek Greathouse was promoted to corporate, M&A and securities/healthcare transactions in San Antonio, USA, and Craig Oliver was promoted to corporate, M&A and securities in Dallas, USA.
In Australia, Maija Kerry was promoted to corporate, M&A and securities in Sydney, and Rajaee Rouhani was promoted to risk advisory in Melbourne. In Canada, Heather Cameron was promoted to employment and labor in Ottawa, Alexandra Shields was promoted to employment and labor in Sydney, and Michael Manhas was promoted to litigation and disputes in Vancouver. Aaron Stephenson was promoted to bankruptcy, financial restructuring & insolvency/litigation and disputes in Calgary.
