Google has recently rolled out a new feature for its Phone app, called "Calling Cards." This optional feature, available on Android 14 and above smartphones with Google's Phone app pre-installed by default, aims to enhance personalization during calls.

The Calling Cards feature allows users to customize the display of individual contacts. To get started, users can tap "Get started" on the notification that appears at the top of the Phone app, or they can access the feature from the contact overview or individual contact settings.

Users can create or select an image for their contacts' Calling Cards, providing a unique and personal touch. They can also set a custom font and color for their contacts' names, further customizing the look of their Calling Cards.

The Calling Cards feature is designed for personal use, allowing users to create a kind of contact poster. It is not intended as a business card to be displayed to contacts.

During a call, the Calling Cards feature appears as a full-screen display, providing a visually appealing and customized experience. This feature is similar to Apple’s iOS 17 Contact Posters, but unlike iOS 17, Google’s Calling Cards are device-specific and cannot be shared or displayed on other users’ phones.

The Calling Cards feature was first introduced in the beta versions of Google's "Contacts" and "Phone" apps earlier this month. It is being rolled out gradually and is available worldwide.

However, it is important to note that sharing of Calling Cards or contact posters is not currently an option. This means that users cannot share their custom contact posters with others using Google’s feature.

In conclusion, the Calling Cards feature is a welcome addition to Google's Phone app, offering users a new way to personalize their contacts and enhance their calling experience. While it shares similarities with Apple’s Contact Posters, its device-specific nature sets it apart, providing a unique and personalized touch to each user's calls.
