Google's Neha Markanda named as Chief Business Officer for ShareChat
ShareChat, the Indian social media unicorn, has made a significant addition to its leadership team with the appointment of Neha Markanda as the Chief Business Officer for its flagship ShareChat app and short-video platform Moj.
With over 22 years of experience under her belt, Neha Markanda brings extensive expertise in brand building and a proven ability to deliver business growth. She has worked across consumer goods and technology companies, including PepsiCo, ITC Limited, HCL Technologies, GSK Consumer Healthcare India, and most recently, Meta (Facebook) where she spent nearly three years as head of business marketing.
At Google, Neha Markanda led the company's health strategy and spearheaded AI-driven solutions in retail and health tech. Prior to her role at Meta, she served as the head of industry for e-commerce at Google India.
Neha Markanda's appointment comes at an exciting juncture for ShareChat. Ankush Sachdeva, CEO and co-founder of ShareChat and Moj, expressed delight at her appointment, stating that her wealth of experience and strategic insights will be invaluable in driving the company's growth ambitions.
In her new role, Neha Markanda will oversee revenue strategy, strengthen partnerships, and drive growth across the platforms. She sees the opportunity for advertisers to strengthen their cultural connect, partner with regional creators, and plan for hyperlocal engagement on ShareChat and Moj.
The combined monthly active user base of ShareChat and Moj is over 325 million, making up one of the largest digital networks in India. ShareChat's parent company, Mohalla Tech, has recently achieved EBITDA profitability, and is currently pursuing a revenue run rate of more than Rs 1,200 crore this year.
Neha Markanda is thrilled to join ShareChat at this pivotal moment. She looks forward to working with ShareChat's teams to further enhance offerings and support the business growth ambitions of its partners.
Gaurav Jain, who was previously the chief business officer, stepped down in June. Neha Markanda's appointment is effective immediately.
