The Meghalaya Government has announced the launch of the Meghalaya Hospitality Scholarship Programme (CMHSP), a scholarship scheme aimed at providing financial support to students pursuing a B.Sc degree in Hospitality and Hotel Management.

The objective of the CMHSP is to prepare students for global opportunities in the hospitality sector and promote the sector in Meghalaya, creating job opportunities for the youth. The scholarship will support a total of 165 students over the next five years.

To be eligible for the CMHSP, students must be permanent residents of Meghalaya, have passed Class XII with English as a subject, and have their annual family income not exceeding ₹3 lakh. The scholarship is open to students enrolled at the Institute of Hotel Management (IHM), Shillong.

The selection of candidates for the CMHSP will be made by a State-level selection committee. Candidates will be selected based on merit and their interest in the hospitality sector. The scholarship covers 100% tuition fees, which will be borne by the Meghalaya Government.

The CMHSP does not have a specified number of scholarships for students pursuing diploma courses. It is important to note that the scholarship scheme does not cover any expenses other than tuition fees.

The Meghalaya Government is funding the tuition fees for the students under the CMHSP. The State Tourism Minister, Paul Lyngdoh, has launched the scholarship scheme to encourage youths to enter the hospitality sector.

The CMHSP application process and eligibility criteria can be found on the official website of the Meghalaya Government. Students who are selected for the CMHSP will be notified individually. The name of the head of the national-level selection committee for the CMHSP is not publicly available.

The CMHSP has been launched with a corpus of ₹6.6 crore. The Meghalaya Hospitality Scholarship Programme aims to prepare students for global opportunities in the hospitality sector and create job opportunities for the youth of Meghalaya.
