Greg Josey's Million-Step Challenge for Les Bourgs Hospice

Greg Josey, a dedicated supporter of Les Bourgs Hospice, has been walking and running for miles along the west coast of Guernsey this month. Despite not being able to complete the '30 walks in 30 days' challenge in April due to an injury, he has remained determined to raise funds for the hospice.

In August, instead of walking every day for a month, Greg decided to participate in the Guernsey Mind Investec 10k. He planned to run from the Imperial to Grandes Rocques, walk back to the 5km marker at L’Eree, and return home to La Ramee after the race. Prior to the race, he had already walked 42,000 steps that morning and intended to continue with this route while raising funds for Les Bourgs Hospice.

Greg's determination and perseverance have been evident throughout his fundraising challenge. Since reaching his one-million-steps target, he has been averaging around 40,000 steps and five hours on the move each day. His commitment has not gone unnoticed, as he has exceeded his fundraising goal of Β£2,000 during the week.

The million-step challenge was not as difficult as Greg initially thought, thanks to the support he received from his wife and friends. He has been walking for at least an hour each morning, for 45 minutes at lunchtime, and for up to three hours each evening.

Greg has been participating in various 30-day challenges for Les Bourgs Hospice for several years. This year, he swam every day, including in Herm, although he did not make it to Alderney. He has also enjoyed participating in the Everest challenge and the 30 swims challenge.

Greg's sponsorship page for Les Bourgs Hospice remains open at justgiving.com/gregory-josey. He plans to continue participating in challenges for Les Bourgs Hospice in the future. Today, Greg is entering the Guernsey Mind Investec 10k, and he remains determined to finish his month-long challenge on a high note.

Greg's efforts have been supported by his work and various sponsors. He decided to take on the million-step challenge after hearing about it and seeing others complete it. Despite the challenges he faced, Greg has shown that with determination and support, anything is possible.
