Grocery store Sedano's now accepting Over-the-Counter and Flex Benefit cards as forms of payment in their brick-and-mortar locations.
In a move to prioritise the well-being of its senior and caregiver customers, Sedano's Supermarkets, America's largest independently owned Hispanic supermarket chain, has announced that it is now accepting OTC (Over-the-Counter) and Flex benefit cards at all its Florida store locations.
Headquartered in Hialeah, Florida, Sedano's Supermarkets serves multiple counties, including Miami-Dade, Broward, Orange, and Osceola. The supermarket chain, which was founded in 1962 by the Herraฬn and Guerra families, primarily caters to Florida's multicultural communities.
Pedro Mesa, director of marketing at Sedano's, stated that the company cares deeply about the families it serves and is proud to offer this new service. According to Mesa, this move is one more way they are helping their community live healthier, happier lives.
With this new offering, eligible members can use their OTC and Flex stipend for approved food items in Sedano's stores. This includes a variety of food items covered by their health plan, such as fruits, vegetables, dairy products, and whole grains. The service enables customers to easily use their benefits to bring home fresh, quality foods that nourish their loved ones.
Sedano's Supermarkets' acceptance of OTC and Flex benefit cards aims to help members stretch their benefits and prioritize wellness at the grocery level. This move by Sedano's follows Walmart's addition of a digital service for Medicare Advantage customers.
The 11-member advisory board of the National Grocers Association Foundation for Modernising SNAP EBT includes diverse stakeholders such as grocery industry leaders, technology experts, and community advocates. However, specific individual names are not publicly listed.
Sedano's Supermarkets' services and offerings are designed to support the well-being of senior and caregiver customers, who often have special dietary and medical needs. The supermarket chain's acceptance of OTC and Flex benefit cards is a testament to its commitment to helping its community live healthier, happier lives.
