In the quiet town of Hammond, Indiana, a disturbing incident took place on August 15. Scott Lindsey, a 44-year-old resident and a long-time employee at a local grocery store, was viciously attacked in Hessville Park.

Scott was on his way home from work when he stopped at a water fountain in the park. It was then that a group of strangers approached him. They verbally taunted him and called him names before launching into a brutal assault, beating, punching, and kicking him.

The attack was potentially for entertainment, as the assailants considered Scott vulnerable. A witness, who remained unnamed, saw the attack and immediately called 911. Officers arrived at the scene to find Scott bloodied and in need of urgent medical attention.

Scott suffered severe injuries, losing a majority of his front teeth in the attack. His family is now facing costly and extensive dental work to repair the damage. Initially, Scott did not want to report the attack, but his family insisted that justice be served.

The name of the perpetrator has not been publicly disclosed, but it is known that other individuals joined in on the attack, and no one intervened to help Scott. Brian Beatty, Scott's stepfather, finds it particularly distressing that someone recorded the attack and posted it on social media.

Scott, who has autism, has worked at the local grocery store for 14 years. His family and colleagues are shocked and saddened by the incident, and the community is rallying around him in support. Scott is currently recovering from the attack and will avoid passing through the same park in the future.

The Hammond Police Department is investigating the incident and is urging anyone with information to come forward. The community hopes that justice will be served, and that such a senseless act of violence will not happen again.
