In an effort to provide a more personalised search experience, Google has launched a new feature called Preferred Sources. This feature is now available in the U.S. and India, and will be broadly available in the coming days.

With Preferred Sources, users can select their favourite news sources and stay updated on the latest content from those sites. To do this, users should search for a topic that's in the news and click on the icon to the right of Top Stories. A list of participating news websites will appear, from which users can select as many sources as they like.

Once users have selected their preferred sources, they will appear more frequently in Top Stories or in a dedicated "From your sources" section on the search results page. This means that users will see more content from their favourite sites within the Top Stories section, making it easier for them to stay informed on the topics that matter most to them.

If you've previously signed up in Labs, your selections will automatically apply and you'll continue to see more of those sites within Top Stories. Users can manage their selections at any time, adding or removing sources as their interests change.

Over half of users who have used Preferred Sources in Labs have chosen four or more sources, indicating that users are eager to customise their search experience to find the information that is most relevant to them.

Publishers can encourage their followers and subscribers to select their website as a preferred source on Facebook using resources found in the dedicated help center. This will help increase their visibility and click potential in search results.

Preferred Sources is just one of the many ways that Google is working to make search more personalised and relevant for users. By allowing users to select their preferred sources, Google is helping to ensure that users see the content that matters most to them, while also supporting publishers by increasing their visibility in search results.
