Limerick city witnessed another instance of serious violence on Wednesday afternoon, as a shooting incident was reported in the city centre. According to Garda sources, the firepower being used in the ongoing feuds in Limerick is extremely serious.
The shooting incident, which occurred around 4pm, is currently under investigation by the Gardaí. The Garda press office has confirmed that they are investigating an alleged discharge of a firearm in Limerick city. Dashcam footage from a passing motorist, which was later shared on social media, shows a man being pursued by a group of males carrying weapons along Childers Road.
In a concerning development, Garda management has authorized armed patrols for monitoring flashpoint areas in Limerick. This move comes amidst a resurgence of serious violence in the city, with recent incidents including drive-by shootings, pipe-bomb attacks, and fire bombings.
