Hamburg's Logistics Concept for the Year 2035

Hamburg, the logistics hub of Northern Europe, is set to take a significant step forward in the transformation of its logistics sector. The Hamburg Logistics Strategy 2035, developed with the involvement of over 150 actors from various sectors, aims to make Hamburg's logistics sustainable, innovative, and competitive.

At the heart of this strategy is the expansion of urban logistics, with logistical processes more strongly integrated into urban planning. Key factors include openness to cooperation, investments in smart technologies, and the development of trusting networks along the entire value chain. The Hamburg Logistics Network plays a central role in the implementation of this strategy.

The strategy encompasses nine action areas, including digitization, urban logistics, securing skilled workers, and developing alternative, secure supply chains. One of the primary focuses is on climate-friendly logistics, such as the circular economy or flexibility through on-demand models. Hamburg aims to be a hub for international supply chains and a pioneer for networked, data-driven, and sustainable logistics.

A crucial aspect of this transformation is cybersecurity in the context of digital transformation. The goal is a complete switch to emission-free transport, with solutions such as Open Data, cooperative logistics, and the use of smart technologies gaining importance. Hamburg aims to be CO2-neutral by 2045.

Katrin Helling-Plahr, the chairwoman of the Logistik-Initiativ Hamburg e.V., is instrumental in the implementation of the strategy. She summarizes the strategy as a resilient, interconnected, innovative, and future-proof logistics system. Kerstin Wendt-Heinrich, Chairwoman of the Logistics Initiative Hamburg e. V., shares this vision, emphasizing Hamburg's ambition to establish itself as a pioneer for networked, data-driven, and sustainable logistics.

This strategic approach positions Hamburg and the metropolitan region as a driver for sustainable solutions, harnessing the power of megatrends such as digitization and sustainability to shape the future of logistics. Hamburg's commitment to this vision makes it an exciting player to watch in the global logistics landscape.
