Haribo Expands in Neuss City, Remains Unaltered in Solingen Operations

In an exciting development for the confectionery industry, Haribo has announced plans to build a new factory in Neuss-Holzheim, Germany. The construction is set to begin in 2025, with production potentially starting in 2028.

The new factory, which will occupy approximately 14 hectares of land in the Neuss-Holzheim industrial area, is primarily intended to serve the international demand for Maoam chewing gum. Haribo aims to invest around 300 million euros in this new construction.

While the Solingen factory will not be affected by the construction, it's worth noting that the company's largest production site within Germany and the entire Haribo group specializes in the fruit gum category, including the world-famous Goldbears, as well as other products like "Phantasia" or "Tropifrutti". Around 150 different products are produced for both the German and international markets in Solingen.

The Solingen factory does not produce chewing gum, as the new factory in Neuss is primarily intended for the production of Maoam chewing gum. Haribo's expansion is due to its production know-how specifically for the chewing gum area.

The new factory is expected to employ around 450 people, including around 350 employees from the current Maoam factory and approximately 100 new employees. Production at the new Haribo manufacturing site in Neuss-Holzheim is scheduled to begin in 2024.

Haribo also plans to continue investing in the Solingen location for continuous improvement in workplace safety, quality, and efficiency topics. No major additional investments outside of regular modernizations are planned in Solingen in the near future.

The total production capacity in the planned new building will be approximately doubled compared to the current Maoam factory. Additionally, fruit gum from Haribo is also expected to be produced in Neuss in the future.

This expansion is a testament to Haribo's commitment to meeting global demand for its popular products and further cements its position as a leading player in the confectionery industry.
