Ueckermünde and the UWD/UWG are actively seeking new interested parties and large customers for their district heating network, as part of an ongoing effort to expand and improve the city's heating infrastructure.

One significant development is the connection of the sports hall at Haffring to the UWD's district heating network. This move will not only enhance the facility's energy efficiency but also contribute to the city's overall sustainability goals.

The primary school in the city already benefits from a 50 kW capacity heating system, and further work to expand the network is scheduled for 2026/2027. A 300-meter-long trench is currently being dug in Ueckermünde Ost, with Mele from Torgelow laying the pipes for heating supply.

Apartments on Belliner Straße, Haffring, and Ispericher Straße are already receiving heat from Heizhaus Ost (Heating Plant II), while the gymnasium will be added to the network this year. After completion, the builders in the gymnasium will have building heat for further expansion from late October.

Heizhaus I in the school basement supplies heat to 210 WE (residential units), while the gymnasium will receive heat from the block heating power plant (BHKW) and two condensing boilers in the primary school's basement.

The kindergarten Haffring and the leisure center are planned to be connected to the district heating network in 2026/2027. Notably, the new BHKW in Heating Plant II is biomethane-capable, marking a step towards a more sustainable energy source.

Initial talks with the Ueckermünde Housing Cooperative have already taken place, indicating a promising future for the city's district heating network. Currently, UWD supplies 1360 residential units in Ueckermünde Ost, with 670 units already heated by district heat.

UWD operates a total of three district heating networks, including one in Ueckermünde West that supplies 250 households. The company GEHRING will lay the pipeline for the heat supply in the planned 300-meter-long trench at Gymnasium Haffring.

As the city continues to grow and develop, the expansion of its district heating network is a crucial step towards a more sustainable and efficient energy future for Ueckermünde. The work is scheduled to be completed by the start of the heating season, ensuring a warm and comfortable city for its residents.
