Heavy rain and thunderstorms hit Austria due to an incoming cold front
Weather Forecast for Austria: Sunny Days Ahead, Yet Disruptions Expected
Saturday will commence with local morning fog in valleys and basins, but will clear up to be mostly sunny and dry by evening, except for a few dense clouds passing through north of the Danube, potentially causing isolated, unproductive showers. The wind in the Vienna basin and on the eastern Alpine coast on Saturday will be light to moderate from northern directions.
On Sunday, Austria will be dominated by sunshine, with highs up to 28°C. From Lake Constance to the Weinviertel, the day will be mostly sunny with light to moderate wind. The wind on Sunday will be light to moderate in the same regions. Temperatures on this day will range from 22 to 28°C.
Temperatures on Friday will range from 10 to 18°C, increasing from west to east. Elsewhere on Friday, the day will be mostly sunny and still summer-like warm. In the east and south of Austria, the temperatures will reach up to 28°C. On Friday morning, widespread dense clouds and showers are expected in the west and north of Austria.
A weak disruption zone will cross Austria from west to east on Monday, bringing occasional dense clouds and showers, most likely in Vorarlberg, Salzburg, and Carinthia. The disruption on Tuesday afternoon will initially affect western Austria with light showers, while the rest of the day will be mostly sunny and still summer-like warm. Showers and a few thunderstorms are expected to spread to the eastern lowlands, Burgenland, and southeast Styria in the afternoon on Friday.
Austria will experience a cold front on Friday, bringing showers in the afternoon. On Wednesday, September 1, 2025, in Vienna, a weather change is expected with increasing cloudiness and a rising chance of showers in the afternoon, following a period of sunshine and thunderstorms the previous day.
