High-octane Crime Drama with Compelling Emotional Depth

In the world of Hollywood, the pieces are constantly shifting, coming together to form a captivating story. Such is the case with the upcoming film, "The Informer."

The Italian actor-writer-director Andrea Di Stefano has been brought on board to direct the movie, marking his return to the director's chair after a successful stint with films like "Eastern Boys" and "The Stolen."

The film is based on the Swedish novel "Tre Sekunder" by Roslund & Hellström, and its English adaptation, "The Informer," penned by Matt Cook and Rowan Joffe. The script's old-school vibe, reminiscent of 1970s New York-set crime thrillers, caught the eye of British actress Rosamund Pike, who found herself drawn to the morally conflicted FBI Agent Erica Wilcox role.

Pike wasn't the only one intrigued by the story. Joel Kinnaman, best known for his roles in AMC's The Killing, Warner Bros' Suicide Squad, Netflix series Altered Carbon and House of Cards, was excited about the role in the film due to the interesting character and the double life aspect. Kinnaman was cast as Pete Koslow, the protagonist in the film, a former special operations soldier working as an informant for the FBI.

The plot involves Pete Koslow helping to dismantle the Polish mafia's drug trade in New York. However, things go awry, leading to the death of an undercover NYPD cop and his subsequent coercion into going back to prison, the very place he previously served time for manslaughter.

Thunder Road Films, the production company behind Sicario, John Wick and The Town, joined as a US producing partner, ensuring a high-quality production. The production emphasized authenticity, with details and procedural accuracy brought by director Andrea Di Stefano.

Di Stefano's focus on the emotional core of the protagonist's family added depth to the film. The briefing scene in the film was originally set in a boardroom but was changed to a more cinematic location after research.

Production of the film was forced to shut down a week before filming, but with determination and resilience, the team managed to get back on track. Rosamund Pike, who wanted to work with Joel Kinnaman, was also a client of executive producer Browning, which further fueled her interest in the project.

The person who produced the film "The Informer" after a revival from stagnation is Pete Koslow himself. With Di Stefano's authentic, research-driven direction and the stellar cast, "The Informer" promises to be a gripping addition to the crime thriller genre.
