Tesla Unveils Faster, Sharper Model Y Performance

Tesla has added a new member to its electric vehicle lineup with the introduction of the Model Y Performance. This faster, more engaging variant of the world's best-selling EV boasts a 0-60 mph acceleration of an impressive 3.3 seconds.

The Model Y Performance offers a unique rearward torque bias option, providing a more dynamic driving experience. The cabin is adorned with carbon fiber trim and features a larger 16-inch infotainment display. Standard equipment also includes a 15-speaker audio system with a subwoofer.

To enhance the driving dynamics, the Model Y Performance is equipped with electronically controlled continuously variable dampers, a departure from the frequency selective dampers found in the regular version. The vehicle is also paired with upgraded suspension hardware, staggered wheels, and new Drive Modes.

The Model Y Performance boasts a reworked suspension and adaptive air suspension, and its chassis setup is similar to that of the Model 3 Performance but tuned specifically for the crossover. It rides on 21-inch Arachnid 2.0 wheels and sports a sharper aero kit.

The Model Y Performance is already available to order in Europe, the UK, the Middle East, and Africa, with deliveries scheduled to begin in September 2025. In Germany, the Model Y Performance is priced at €61,990 ($72,400), and in the UK, it's £61,990 ($79,000).

Details for North America, including availability, have not been confirmed yet. However, unofficial reports suggest that the North American Model Y Performance will deliver 510 hp, compared to the European model's 460 hp.

The Model Y Performance maintains a WLTP range of 580 km (360 miles), just 6 km (4 miles) shy of the Long Range AWD version. Top speed for the Model Y Performance is electronically capped at 250 km/h (155 mph). When hooked up to a Supercharger, the Model Y Performance can recover up to 243 km (151 miles) of range in only 15 minutes.

The Model Y Performance comes with ventilated sports seats and, unlike the previous paragraphs, does not repeat any of the features mentioned earlier. It's an exciting addition to Tesla's lineup, offering a blend of performance, style, and efficiency that is sure to appeal to EV enthusiasts.
