High-speed Gigabit Internet provided by Vodafone: construction of data roads serving over 1200 households in Rhineland-Palatinate region

In a bid to meet the growing demand for reliable and high-speed internet, Vodafone Germany has been actively modernizing its cable-fiber networks across the country. Over the past year, the communications conglomerate has carried out over 3,500 construction measures in cities and districts nationwide to improve network quality.

One of the regions to undergo this modernization was Ravensburg and its surrounding areas, including Weingarten and Aulendorf, which were completed within a few months leading up to September 2025. These modernization measures were part of three construction projects aimed at improving the cable-fiber network's stability and power.

The segmentation measure, a key part of these projects, involves dividing network segments with additional fiber optic nodes. This has resulted in significantly fewer internet users being in the same area in Vodafone's network at the same time, ensuring a more stable and powerful internet connection for residents.

Individual amplifier points have been converted into Fiber Nodes by replacing coaxial cable with fiber optic cable. This change has also contributed to the improved network quality, as fiber optic cables offer faster data transfer rates and are less susceptible to interference.

The construction of these new data highways is expected to provide sufficient capacities for data-intensive applications like video conferencing, music, and video streaming, especially during peak times. This is crucial for residents to watch videos, series, and TV shows live, follow cultural and sporting events, or stay informed on news portals.

Vodafone's efforts have not gone unnoticed. In the CHIP Fixed Network Test 2024, Vodafone's cable internet was awarded test winner among national providers for the second time in a row.

Elsewhere, in the Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis, Vodafone GmbH has also completed a modernization measure. Data traffic in the region is growing rapidly with an annual growth rate of currently 12 percent. To cater to this growth, new fiber optic cables were laid in the ground and additional fiber optic nodes were built for smaller network segments.

These investments are aimed at meeting the strong demand of the population. Vodafone Germany, with an annual total turnover of approximately 13 billion euros and around 15,000 employees, is driving infrastructure expansion in Germany and reaches two-thirds of all German households with gigabit speed in its nationwide cable-fiber network.

In Bergisch Gladbach, more than 1,200 households now have access to a significantly more stable and powerful fixed network. This improvement is evident, as on average, each Vodafone customer now receives significantly more reliable speed.

As Vodafone continues to invest in its broadband network, residents across Germany can look forward to a more reliable and high-speed internet connection, enabling them to stay connected in today's digital world.
