Historic Rally Erzgebirge Returns for Its Second Lap

The Historic Rally Erzgebirge is set to captivate fans of vintage cars once again, as it embarks on its second lap on September 5th and 6th, 2025, in Chemnitz city center. This event, which is open to everyone, attracts enthusiasts from Germany and Switzerland, promising a unique tourist experience.

The rally commences in Chemnitz and takes a scenic route through the Erzgebirge, crossing into the Czech Republic before returning to its starting point. The route on Saturday includes the steep wall in Meerane and the August Horch Museum in Zwickau before covering a distance of approximately 200 kilometers.

The rally features a diverse range of vehicles, with Mercedes, Wartburg, Trabant, Skoda, and a DKW F5 from the 1930s among the participants. Vehicles from this era add a touch of nostalgia to the event, transporting spectators back in time.

The rally, however, is not about speed and skill. Instead, it's a testament to the vehicles' endurance and the drivers' ability to navigate the challenging routes. The event saw 83 teams registered, but only 77 vehicles crossed the starting ramp, due to a few short-term cancellations due to illness.

The organisers, Messe- und Veranstaltungsagentur Karla Brinkmann, have confirmed that key contacts for the rally are Karla Brinkmann and Wolfgang Kießling. The rally will take place at Rathauspassagen/Jakobikirchplatz in Chemnitz.

The rally kicked off on Friday with Mayor Knut Kunze starting the event in a French Hotchkiss limousine (1935). The rally is set to cover approximately 200 kilometers on Saturday, including the steep wall in Meerane and the August Horch Museum in Zwickau before returning to Chemnitz.
