Historic City Pub Old Doctor Butler's Head Reopens After Pandemic

Old Jimmy Butler's Head, a historic City pub, has reopened its doors after the Covid-19 pandemic, marking a significant moment in the City's recovery. Established in 1610, the pub has a rich history and a loyal customer base who treat it like a second home. The reopening was attended by the City of London Mayor and the CEO of Shepherd Neame, the oldest brewery in the UK.

General Manager Luiz Da Costa, who has been with the pub for nearly five years, has seen the pub through challenging times. Luiz started his career as a kitchen porter 20 years ago and has risen through the ranks to become the pub's general manager. He has a strong connection with the customers and often retreats to the Cock and Woolpack pub on Finch Lane for some alone time due to its lack of phone reception.

The pub, named after Dr William Butler, a court physician to King James I, is known for its great pints and pub food classics. Despite the lack of information about its first opening, it has become a long-standing favourite in the City. Luiz and the customers are eager to win the Toast City Awards, which would be significant for both the pub and its regular patrons.

Old Jimmy Butler's Head, with its rich history and dedicated staff, has reopened to the delight of its loyal customers. Luiz Da Costa, the pub's general manager, looks forward to welcoming both regulars and new faces as the City continues to recover from the pandemic. The pub's future looks bright, with the potential of winning the Toast City Awards on the horizon.
