Holy Cross Crusaders Shine in Recent Victories

The College of the Holy Cross has seen a surge in sports success, with the Holy Cross Crusaders football team and the Women's Lacrosse team both making headlines.

After a series of key victories, the football team now sits atop the Patriot League. The Crusaders recently secured a dominant 38-7 win against the Colgate Raiders, marking their first ever football game at Polar Park. The victory was part of a four-game winning streak, which has catapulted them to the top of the league.

The Women's Lacrosse team, under the guidance of head coach Amanda Belichick, has also enjoyed a successful year. They advanced to the first-round of the Patriot League Tournament, finishing the regular season with an 18-12 record. The team recently secured a 19-16 victory against Patriot League rival Fordham.

The Crusaders' football team, despite a 3-5 record, has shown a grit and winning mentality that does not fully reflect their standing. All of their losses have come in out-of-league play. Quarterback Joe Pesansky and wide receiver Justin Shorter both had career days, connecting on four touchdowns. Wide receiver Max Mosey also made a significant contribution, scoring a 1-yard touchdown run in the wildcat position.

The football team will face a tough challenge on Saturday, October 26, as they take on the reigning Patriot League champion Lafayette Leopards. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+, with a kick-off time yet to be announced.

The Holy Cross Women's Lacrosse team's game in the Patriot League Tournament also does not have a specific date or time as of yet.

The College of the Holy Cross hosted Colgate at Polar Park for a football game that was part of the festivities for Family Weekend. The Worcester Red Sox, who usually occupy Polar Park, made way for the Crusaders for this special occasion.

First-year head coach Dan Curran also celebrated his first win at Fitton Field, as the Crusaders defeated the Colgate Raiders in their first Patriot League game of the year.

Despite the excitement surrounding these victories, the Crusaders' upcoming opponents in the Patriot League remain unclear. Nonetheless, with their recent form, Holy Cross will be a force to be reckoned with in the coming weeks.
