In the latest episode of the popular German TV show "Das perfekte Dinner" on VOX, host Thomas, a 60-year-old entrepreneur, prepared a traditional Polish feast in the city of Krefeld. The menu included onion soup, roast beef, and a surprising dessert - a puristically arranged piece of cheesecake with mandarins and streusel.

Thomas's culinary journey began with a unique twist on the traditional Polish pea soup, "Grochowka". Jenny, a guest on the show, found an elegant dash of Maggi added to the soup particularly delightful. However, the intended bread bowl for the soup, baked by Jenny herself, remained disappointingly flat. Instead, she used the flat yeast bread as a base for butter-fried Krakauer sausage slices.

The main course was a hearty combination of Silesian "Czorne kluski" and pulled pork in its own juice. The gray-colored potato dumplings, a distinctive feature of Silesian cuisine, were the centrepiece of the dish. Steffen, another guest on the show, found the "Czorne kluski" slightly "rubber-like", while Jenny appreciated their distinct flavour.

Steffen also criticised the lack of sauce in the pulled pork, expressing a preference for a more generous helping of gravy. Caro, another guest, shared Steffen's sentiments regarding the "Czorne kluski", finding them less than perfect.

However, it was the dessert that sparked the most debate. Steffen considered it "too simple for a perfect dinner", while Jenny found it a refreshing departure from the rich main course.

Despite the constructive criticism, Thomas's Polish feast was a memorable one, showcasing the rich flavours and unique dishes of Polish cuisine. The next episode promises more culinary adventures as the hosts continue to explore various cuisines from around the world.
