House blaze in Hammerweide leaves two individuals hurt during nighttime fire rescue efforts

In the early hours of this morning, a fire broke out in a residential building on Hammerweide, Arnsberg. The fire department was alerted at 04:14, and thanks to the quick and coordinated efforts of all involved, the situation was swiftly brought under control.

The immediate interior attack was launched to rescue people, and numerous emergency services were dispatched due to a report of people in the building. The main fire stations in Neheim and Arnsberg, the duty officer, the fire-fighting units from Arnsberg and Bruchhausen/Niedereimer, the rescue service from Arnsberg and Hagelstein, the police, a member of the psychosocial emergency care team, and the breathing apparatus vehicle were present.

Sadly, five people were affected by the fire, with two sustaining injuries from smoke inhalation and being taken to the hospital for treatment. The leader of the fire department who coordinated the event was Chief Fire Officer Wolfgang KrΓ€mer.

In the affected apartment, rubbish and a stereo system were on fire. The fire in the burning apartment was completely extinguished and checked for hotspots using a thermal imaging camera. Simultaneously, the building was ventilated using a high-performance fan. Final checks of the extinguishing work were carried out before the scene was handed over to the police.

The residents of the unaffected apartments could return to the building after the operation ended, and the fire in the residential building on Hammerweide, Arnsberg was completely extinguished at 04:53.
