House goes up in flames once more in front yard, water supply malfunctions during firefighting efforts
In a recent development, the Wiesbaden Criminal Police are investigating a suspicious incident that took place in Idstein, Germany.
On Thursday, 31st July 2025, at approximately 10:20 AM, an unknown perpetrator impersonated a water worker and gained entry to an apartment in In der Ritzbach, Idstein. The perpetrator is reported to have stolen jewelry from the apartment.
The police are urging residents to be extremely vigilant, especially if someone claims to be a service provider and needs to repair or check something urgently. This incident serves as a reminder to always verify the identity of anyone claiming to be a service provider before allowing them access to your home.
In a separate incident, an unknown person placed a brand device in the outer entrance area of a residential building in Taunusstein-Neuhof, Steinritzweg, on Friday, 1st August 2025, at 04:45. This action caused property damage, but the fire was extinguished before the arrival of the fire brigade.
The police are also investigating this incident and are asking for any witnesses or anyone with information about suspicious observations around the crime scenes, especially around 01:00, to contact the Wiesbaden Criminal Police. Tips can be provided under the telephone number (0611) 345 - 0.
A description of the suspect in the Idstein incident is available. The person was wearing a light jacket with a hood and dark stripes on the chest, as well as a medical mask. They were also wearing a blue work sweater and dark blue work pants with red stripes. The suspect is approximately 180 cm tall, stocky, of middle European appearance, with dark, short hair.
