In the heart of Neuss, the Dreikönigenviertel neighbourhood is set for a change as the City Council has resolved to introduce a trial phase for a residents' parking zone in the city centre. This decision was made on May 16, 2025, and the new regulation is set to come into effect on November 1, 2025.

The trial phase, lasting for one year, aims to reduce parking pressure in the adjacent area and evaluate the effectiveness of the measure. For the residents of Dreikönigenviertel who hold a "B" parking permit, there will be a citizen participation process before any long-term extension of the measure. Residents were informed and had the opportunity to provide input during a citizens' information event on November 27, 2024, with another event scheduled after the summer holidays of 2026.

For all other road users, parking will be limited to two hours on weekdays between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM, with a parking disc required. Residents with a "B" parking permit, however, will have free choice of parking spots in the Three Kings Quarter.

The City Council is also considering expanding resident parking zones to the Stadium Quarter, the Augustinus Quarter, and the southern Furth, following the success of the trial phase in the Three Kings Quarter. The administration has been tasked with examining the feasibility of such an expansion, and residents in these areas will be informed through posters and flyers.

Applications for the parking permit can be made online starting in October, and the permit will cost 12 euros during the trial phase. Traffic signs for the "Parking Space Management Zone" will be installed by the end of October to mark the boundaries of the new regulations.

The City Council values the input of its residents and will hold another citizen information event with residents before making decisions about the expansion of resident parking zones. The council encourages all affected residents to participate in these events to ensure their voices are heard in shaping the future of parking in Neuss.
