Houthi Leader Perishes in Israeli Strike

In a shocking turn of events, the Houthi government in Yemen, which controls the capital Sanaa and northern Yemen, has appointed a new prime minister following the death of Ahmed al-Rahaui in an Israeli airstrike last month.

The airstrike, which occurred in Sanaa, targeted a facility where dozens of leading members of the Houthi regime were present, according to the Israeli military. The military confirmed that al-Rahaui and other senior Houthi representatives were killed in the attack.

The new prime minister, Mohammed Miftah, was appointed as acting leader after al-Rahaui's death. Miftah previously served as al-Rahaui's deputy.

The Houthi militia's leader is Abdel Malik al-Huthi, whose brother founded the Shia organization about 30 years ago. Despite the loss of its president and other officials, the Houthi government has announced that it will continue its work.

The Houthi government has controlled the north of Yemen for nearly a decade, but it is not recognized internationally. The Houthi organization appointed al-Rahaui as prime minister last year, but he was seen as a largely symbolic figure with little real power.

Following al-Rahaui's death, the Houthi government appointed Mohammed Ahmed as acting prime minister. It remains to be seen how this change in leadership will affect the ongoing conflict in Yemen.
