The Powerball jackpot for Saturday night's drawing is estimated to be a staggering $1.8 billion, making it the second-biggest lottery prize in U.S. history. This impressive sum trails only the $2.04 billion jackpot won on November 7, 2022.
If a single ticket wins this Saturday's Powerball jackpot, the purchaser can choose between an annuity-tied estimated $1.8 billion or the lump sum payment of roughly $826.4 million (cash value).
The Powerball lottery has had six jackpots of more than $1 billion in its 33-year history, with the current run of 41 drawings without a Powerball jackpot winner tying the game's mark for most consecutive drawings without a winner. The only other Powerball jackpot streak to get to 42 drawings ended on April 6, 2024, with a $1.326 billion jackpot won in Oregon.
Powerball tickets are sold in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The drawings take place every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 11 p.m. ET.
So far this year, the Powerball jackpot has been won four times. In a notable event on September 13, 2025, two players from Missouri and Texas shared the second-largest lottery prize in US history, winning a Powerball jackpot of approximately 1.8 billion US dollars. The winning numbers were 11, 23, 44, 61, 62, and the Powerball 17.
The odds of winning the top prize in the Powerball lottery are 1 in 292.2 million, according to Powerball. If a winner picks the annuity option, they will receive an immediate payment followed by 29 annual ones that increase by 5% each year.
For those who missed the Wednesday's Powerball drawing, the winning numbers were 3, 16, 29, 61, 69, and a Powerball of 22.
