Icy roads across Latvia in the morning of Thursday
In the heart of winter, driving conditions in Latvia are proving to be a challenge for commuters and travellers alike. To help navigate the treacherous roads, 48 maintenance units are currently working tirelessly to clear the roads across the country.
The driving conditions on the main roads A2, A3, A6, A7, A9, A10, A12 remain particularly difficult, with ice and snow causing slippery surfaces. However, the roads around Ventspils, Kuldīga, Saldus, Talsi, Bauska, Dobele, Cēsis, Valmiera, Valka, Madona, Gulbene, Rēzekne, and Jēkabpils are also experiencing poor conditions, especially on unpaved or gravel roads. These rural routes, often lacking regular maintenance, become especially hazardous during wet or winter conditions.
For those seeking up-to-date information on the road conditions, an interactive map is available on the LVC website. This resource provides a visual representation of the current state of the roads, helping drivers make informed decisions about their journeys.
Despite the challenging conditions, the maintenance units are working diligently to ensure the safety of all road users. It is advised to drive with caution, allowing extra time for journeys and maintaining a safe distance from other vehicles.
Stay safe on the roads, Latvia!
