Idris Elba expresses reluctance about venturing into politics, following speculations about him running for London mayor.

Idris Elba, the acclaimed actor known for his roles in shows like "Luther" and movies such as the "Fast & Furious" franchise, has denied rumours of his entry into politics. The political party suspected of considering Elba as a candidate for Mayor of London is the Labour Party, according to a report in March.

However, Elba has made it clear that his future remains in acting. He is set to return for the Disney animated sequel, "Zootropolis 2" on November 28. Elba voiced the character of Chief Bogo in the original film and will reprise his role in the sequel.

Elba's denial of political ambitions comes after he spoke about the rumours while promoting his new film, "A House Of Dynamite". In this movie, Elba plays the US President. The film is due to hit UK cinemas from October 10.

Elba's path from acting to politics would not be unprecedented. Arnold Schwarzenegger, the former Governor of California in the US, and Glenda Jackson, a two-time Oscar winner, are examples of actors who have made the transition. Jackson was an MP in the UK from 1992-2015.

Recently, Elba made a documentary titled "Our Knife Crime Crisis" in February, which shed light on the issue of knife crime in the UK. Despite this, he has not spoken about politics since promoting his new film.

It's worth noting that last year, Elba expressed his desire to star in a live action version of the game "Cyberpunk 2077". The game, set in a dystopian future, would be a fitting role for Elba's acting prowess.

In conclusion, Idris Elba has denied rumours of his entry into politics and confirmed his focus on acting. His upcoming projects include "Zootropolis 2" and "A House Of Dynamite". His denial of political ambitions does not rule out a future in politics, but for now, Elba's career remains in the world of acting.
