Charlie and her fiancΓ©, James, embarked on a small bathroom renovation project in their terraced house in Tooting, London. The couple, with no experience in renovating, sought a company to collaborate with for the project. They found Simply Bathrooms & Interiors (Surrey) and collaborated with the director, Sophie Harrold.

The old bathroom was gutted, and the walls and pipework were repaired. The small bathroom, measuring 1.5 meters wide and 2 meters long, was lined with cracked dark brown tiles. The couple was drawn to boutique hotel-style bathroom ideas, especially considering the small size of the bathroom.

Inspired by terrazzo, statement basins, soft pastels, and boutique hotel bathrooms, Charlie had a clear vision for her bathroom. She wanted a mid-century, vintage vibe that would complement the existing character of their home. The pastel green terrazzo with flecks of white, pinky quartz, and burnt orange was chosen for the bathroom's design.

The bath was installed beneath the window, and a bespoke vanity was created to ensure a perfect fit. The floating vanity makes the room feel more open and provides essential bathroom storage. The fluted elements on the shower screen, vanity, and tiled skirting add another layer of detail from that era.

Charlie and James were particularly fond of ribbed glass and terrazzo, which give the room its distinct mid-century look. The mint trim on the shower screen matches the tiles closely. A limited edition watercolour by artist Moira Frith was chosen for the bathroom, its color complementing the basin and adding a fun vibe.

The bathroom layout was cramped, with a bath down one side and the basin squeezed in at the end, creating a pinch point with the toilet under the window. The floating design of a bathroom storage idea keeps clutter out of sight.

IP-rated LEDs inside the niche provide a lovely glow in the evening, while the Eala wall light, Β£228 each at Spark & Bell, was chosen for wall lighting ideas. Charlie is pleased with the changes, stating that the design is more original than anything she's seen and that a bold look works well in a small bathroom.

The house had a converted loft and required light renovations, with the priority being the update of the main bathroom. The completed bathroom is a testament to Charlie's vision and the skill of Sophie Harrold and her team at Simply Bathrooms & Interiors (Surrey). The complementing green tiles, pale pink walls, and brushed brass fittings create a unique and stylish space that perfectly blends mid-century charm with modern comfort.
