IKEA debuts innovative shower attachment aimed at water conservation and cost reduction within households

In a bid to promote water conservation and efficiency, IKEA has unveiled a limited edition range called BERGVATTNET. This collection, set to hit German shelves in September 2023, is designed to optimise smart showering and water usage.

The BERGVATTNET collection includes a water meter that tracks water usage, temperature, and shower duration. This meter comes with a three-year warranty, ensuring peace of mind for environmentally-conscious consumers. The collection also features a bucket that doubles as storage, holding up to eight liters of water. It boasts a removable shelf for extra bathroom storage.

To further promote water efficiency, the collection includes an aeration head that fits onto any standard mounting. This head mixes air into the water, creating larger droplets while using less water. The head works with both electric and power showers, using 35% less water than a standard shower head.

The BERGVATTNET collection also includes the Auto Diverter and hose, which collects cold water that would otherwise be wasted while waiting for the shower to heat up. This collected water can be used for watering houseplants and gardens, making it particularly useful during hosepipe bans.

Kezia Reynolds, who joined the platform team as News Writer in September 2024, discusses the importance of water conservation and efficient usage. Kezia, who graduated from City, University of London in 2022 with a bachelor's degree in journalism, is always on the lookout for the latest home news, finding you the best deals and trends.

While the BERGVATTNET collection is priced affordably, in line with IKEA's typical pricing, alternatives may be necessary for those who cannot purchase it. Fortunately, the market for water conservation and efficient usage products is thriving, with affordable and innovative alternatives available.

One such alternative features an aeration head that works with both electric and power showers, and a water meter that changes colour to indicate water usage efficiency (under 40L, between 40-59L, or 60+ liters). Another alternative includes a head that uses 35% less water than a standard shower head, making it an excellent choice for those looking to reduce their water consumption.

As we navigate the challenges of climate change and resource scarcity, it's more important than ever to make conscious choices about our water usage. The BERGVATTNET collection and its alternatives are steps in the right direction, offering stylish, affordable, and efficient solutions for the modern home.
