Illegitimate BMW Licenses Seized in BPOL-FL: Five Vehicles Reportedly Stolen
In an unexpected turn of events, federal police officers halted a white BMW 530e with Dutch registration at the former border crossing Kupfermuhle on Saturday evening around 11:00 PM. The incident was reported by the Federal Police Inspectorate Flensburg via news aktuell.
Upon closer inspection, the officers found the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) placed at several points in the car. However, when they checked the VIN against the data on the document, they discovered that the combination of letters and numbers was one digit short, causing doubts about the authenticity of the document.
Despite this, all occupants of the car could identify themselves properly. The car contained four young men aged 17 to 31. The 18-year-old driver of the stolen BMW 530e, a Danish young man, was arrested at the scene. His name is not disclosed in the available sources.
The driver handed over a Dutch registration certificate in credit card format, but the BMW was seized by the criminal duty service and towed away. It was later found that the vehicle had been reported stolen since February 26 by Danish authorities.
As a result, the 18-year-old driver now faces criminal proceedings for forgery of documents, embezzlement, misuse of license plates, and violation of the compulsory insurance law for foreigners.
