Illicit Trafficking Uncovered by BPOLI LUD: A Revelation of Smuggling Activities

In a series of recent incidents, the Federal Police in Eastern Germany have uncovered two cases of foreigner smuggling during temporary border controls last weekend.

On Saturday night, a 29-year-old Ukrainian woman of Asian descent living in Poland was stopped at a motorway control point near Görlitz. The woman, who faces more serious charges including smuggling foreigners and document fraud, had a forged Ukrainian driver's license on her. She was later found to be a part of a smuggler duo living in Berlin, and had to pay a security deposit of 700 euros.

The man accompanying her, a 35-year-old Vietnamese man possibly living illegally in Poland, did not have a residence permit for Poland or a visa for Germany. His documents were in disarray, and he had a passport but no visa. He was later rejected back to Poland, with the younger Vietnamese man only suspected of illegal entry.

The same smuggler duo was caught by the Federal Police during investigations at a service station in Forst last December. The man had to pay a security deposit of 1,300 euros.

On Sunday night, a minibus coming from Poland was stopped in Bad Muskau. The minibus contained 11 passengers, all from Ukraine, who were attempting to be smuggled into Germany without being detected. All the smuggled people were later rejected back to Poland. The Federal Police Inspectorate Ludwigsdorf is handling the investigations.

Meanwhile, the Federal Police are currently investigating four German men aged 28 to 34, suspected of drug trafficking involving up to 140 kilograms of marijuana and other drugs. Evidence including drugs, lab equipment, cash, and data media found during searches in Dresden and Berlin are being analysed.
