In the world of film and television, Tracy Oliver has made a name for herself as a talented writer, producer, and actress. Her latest project, the film adaptation of Nicola Yoon's best-selling novel "The Sun Is Also a Star," is set to captivate audiences with its modern-day love story set against the backdrop of New York City.

Oliver, a graduate of Stanford University and the Peter Stark Producing Program at the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts, wrote the screenplay for the film. Known for her work on the hit comedic web series "The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl," and additional credits including Barbershop: The Next Cut and ABC's sci-fi romantic comedy series The Neighbors, Oliver brings her unique storytelling skills to this heartwarming romance.

The film follows the story of Daniel Bae, a young man conflicted about fulfilling his parents' version of the American Dream, and Natasha Kingsley, a girl fighting against her family's deportation to Jamaica. The two meet and fall for each other over the course of one day, their love story unfolding amidst the backdrop of the city they call home.

Ry Russo-Young, the director of the film, grew up in New York City, lending an authenticity to the film's portrayal of the city. Producer Leslie Morgenstein states that the film has a timeless theme of first love but is also very topical, weaving in the subject of immigration and deportation.

The music chosen for the film reflects the characters' experiences while finding a modern take on what a long song can be. The filmmakers hope the themes in the film will inspire audiences to ask themselves what love looks like to them.

Oliver has numerous feature film projects in various stages of development, but for now, her focus is on the release of "The Sun Is Also a Star." With its compelling story, talented cast, and timely themes, this film is sure to be a must-see for fans of romance and social commentary alike.
