Despite the impressive performance of Aaron Rodgers, the persistent issue in the Steelers squad could potentially disrupt Mike Tomlin's remarkable winning spree.

In a twist of events, the apparent shortcomings of the Steelers team, even with the veteran Aaron Rodgers, might potentially halt Mike Tomlin's impressive win streak.

The Pittsburgh Steelers, known for their elite defensive units throughout the Mike Tomlin era, faced a challenging test in their recent game against the New York Jets. Defensive woes could potentially end Tomlin's non-losing streak, as the Jets put up an impressive 32 points against the Steelers' defense.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers, in his debut for the Steelers, delivered a strong performance, throwing for 244 yards and four touchdowns. However, the Steelers' defense, despite having veterans like Cameron Heyward and T.J. Watt, struggled to contain the Jets' offense.

Jalen Ramsey, who joined the Steelers in a controversial offseason trade that involved Minkah Fitzpatrick, made the game-winning stop against the Jets. Yet, the Steelers' defense as a whole seemed to have taken a noticeable step back.

Justin Fields, who was viewed as one of the worst starting quarterbacks in the league, added two rushing scores in the game. Rookie Garrett Wilson also had a strong outing, catching seven passes for 95 yards and a touchdown. Breece Hall, another rookie, had a strong performance with 107 yards on the ground.

The Steelers have a history of defensive stalwarts, with stars like James Harrison, Troy Polamalu, Ike Taylor, and Ryan Clark establishing themselves during the Tomlin era. Yet, the Steelers' defense this season has been mediocre, a stark contrast to their past glory days.

This mediocrity can be attributed to the quarterback issues that have plagued the Steelers since Ben Roethlisberger retired. The Steelers have yet to find a reliable replacement, leading to inconsistent performances on both sides of the ball.

Veteran Calais Campbell made the decisive tackle in the game, but it was not enough to secure a win for the Steelers. Rodgers' performance with the Steelers resembles his old Green Bay Packers self, and he is arguably the best quarterback the Steelers have had in years.

However, the Steelers' defense will need to step up if they want to avoid finishing a season below .500 for the first time during the Mike Tomlin era. The question remains: Can the Steelers' defense regain their elite status and help the team bounce back from this disappointing start?
