In the ongoing conflict in eastern Ukraine, a tragic incident took place on Monday in the town of Yarova, located approximately 8 kilometers from the front line. According to reports, 21 people lost their lives during a pension distribution event.

The attack, which occurred at a rural settlement in the Donetsk region, was reported by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. He called for a response from the United States, Europe, and the G20, urging strong actions to make Russia stop bringing death.

Ukrainian authorities have accused Moscow of dropping a glide bomb, a weapon known for its ability to glide over long distances, during the incident. The prosecutor general launched a war crime investigation into the strike.

The strike comes just days after a Russian missile crashed into the Ukrainian government headquarters in central Kyiv. Tens of thousands have been killed and millions forced from their homes in Europe's bloodiest conflict since World War II.

In the aftermath of the attack, Ukrposhta, the Ukrainian postal service, announced changes in the distribution of pensions and basic services in frontline regions. One of its vehicles was damaged in the attack, and its department head, Yulia, was hospitalised.

The town of Yarova, with a pre-war population of around 1,900 people, has been a target of regional officials' appeals for civilians to flee the fighting since the early days of Russia's invasion in February 2022.

Ukrainian commander-in-chief Oleksandr Syrsky stated that Russian forces outnumber Ukrainian troops threefold in some areas of the front, and by six times in regions where Moscow has concentrated its forces.

There was no immediate comment from Moscow or the Kremlin on the strike. Despite the ongoing conflict, it is crucial to stay informed about the situation in Ukraine, especially in the Donetsk region, by consulting reliable news sources.
