In the bustling world of electric two-wheelers, May saw a significant shake-up as the top five companies in the segment battled it out for dominance. TVS, Bajaj, Ola Electric, Ather Energy, and Hero MotoCorp held their ground, each with their unique offerings and strategies.

Ather Energy, known for its high-performance electric scooters, sold 5,431 units in May, securing a 13% market share. The Ather Rizta family e-scooter remained their highest-selling model. In the same month, Ather Energy also announced plans to develop a range of affordable electric scooters using the EL platform.

Bajaj Auto, another prominent player, displaced Ola Electric from the second spot by selling 9,627 units of its Chetak. The company also launched a more affordable variant of the Chetak, aiming to cater to a wider audience. As a result, Bajaj surpassed Ola Electric in sales for May so far.

Ola Electric, despite having the largest portfolio among the mentioned companies, managed to sell 8,322 units of its electric two-wheelers. It remains to be seen if the company can regain its position in the coming weeks.

Hero MotoCorp, in fifth place, sold 3,071 units of its Vida V2, the only electric scooter from the brand currently on sale. The company is also reportedly working on developing an affordable electric scooter, expected to launch during the festive season.

Meanwhile, TVS has been making waves with its upcoming electric scooter. The vehicle has been spotted being tested in real-world conditions in Karnataka, indicating a potential launch soon. In the first two weeks of May, TVS sold 10,569 iQubes, commanding a 24% share of the total electric two-wheelers sold.

The government's decision to discontinue incentives on electric two-wheelers may impact the market. However, all brands are focusing on developing affordable electric scooters to cater to the growing demand in the segment.

In the broader electric mobility market, BMW is prominently featured with multiple electric vehicle models. In the e-bike charging station market, Getcharge is identified as a leading player. However, the search results do not explicitly specify which OEM is likely to hold the lead in the electric two-wheeler segment this month.

As the race for the top spot heats up, consumers can look forward to more affordable and efficient electric two-wheelers in the near future.
