Dark Walks for School Children in Nagorny, Biysk

As the academic year begins in Biysk, residents of Nagorny, Vitaminny Lane are facing a persistent issue that has left their children walking to school and home in the dark. The street, which remains unlit, is part of a larger problem of inadequate street lighting in several residential areas of the city.

Nagornaya Street, a key thoroughfare, is only half-lit, leaving the rest of the street in darkness. This situation poses a significant concern, particularly for school children navigating rough terrain in the dark. Street lighting is considered crucial in residential areas, providing safety and security for residents, especially the young.

Residents at the beginning of Dekabristov Street have also expressed their frustration, highlighting the lack of public transport, overgrown sidewalks, unclear roads, and lack of street lighting in their area. They feel neglected and have been advocating for improvements in their village's life, including roads, lighting, and public services.

The villagers in Nagorny, Vitaminny Lane have been submitting requests for street lighting to Biysk's housing and utilities administration for two years, but no action has been taken. This prolonged inaction has led to frustration and exhaustion among the residents, who have had to address these issues through the prosecutor's office, court, or the investigative committee.

However, there is some progress in other parts of the city. The lighting installation work on Ulitsa Socialisticheskaya, 29 is currently 75% complete. Residents of Vishnevy Lane have also expressed their support for the request for street lighting.

As the community continues to push for change, it is hoped that the administration of Biysk will address these long-standing issues and ensure the safety and well-being of its residents, especially the school children who are affected by the lack of street lighting.
