The Montreal Alouettes suffered their fifth consecutive defeat, losing to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats with a score of 26-9. The Alouettes' collective performance was under scrutiny, with head coach Claude Chabot emphasising that the team's performance is a collective responsibility.

Defensive halfback Lorenzo Burns shone in the game, recovering a fumbled ball by the Tiger-Cats at the one-yard line and intercepting Bo Levi Mitchell's pass. Burns' impressive performance also limited the opposing team's top receiver, Kenny Lawler, to four receptions.

However, the Alouettes' offense struggled, converting only 8 of their 21 second-down attempts. Only Austin Mack was targeted before the half, and quarterback James Morgan, who replaced the injured Davis Alexander, accumulated 22 aerial yards before halftime and finished the game with an interception and no touchdown passes.

Charleston Rambo, who caught two of the five passes thrown to him, dropped three passes in second-down situations. Greg Bell, running back for the Tiger-Cats, gained 156 yards, and Bell's touchdown at the end of the fourth quarter sealed the victory for Hamilton.

Despite the loss, the Alouettes remain in second place in the East Division, one win behind the Toronto Argonauts and the Ottawa Redblacks. Davis Alexander's contribution is sorely missed by the Alouettes, and it remains uncertain whether he will be able to return for the next game against the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

The Alouettes generated 220 yards collectively, with Burns creating two turnovers in the first quarter and making five tackles. Tyson Philpot and Austin Mack re-joined the starting lineup, but their impact was not enough to turn the tide in the Alouettes' favour.

The team's quarterback, regardless of who plays, is considered the most important player on the team. Morgan completed three of his nine passes in the first half, but the Alouettes' offense struggled to find their rhythm. The team's last loss was in 2018, and they will be hoping to break this losing streak in their next game against the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
