In an effort to ensure road safety, the Police Directorate Donauwörth conducted speed checks on several federal roads in August 2025. The head of these operations was Police Chief Inspector Daniela Meth, who took up her position on September 1, 2025.

On Sunday, August 17, traffic police in Donauwörth focused their attention on the federal road B25 near Wallerstein. The checks revealed that over 90 drivers were exceeding the speed limit, with the highest recorded speed being 151 km/h in a 100 km/h zone. As a result, more than 80 drivers were fined, and one driver now faces a fine of 320 euros, two points on their license, and a one-month driving ban.

In a separate incident on Friday, August 15, speed checks were conducted on the federal road B16 near Rain. The highest speed recorded during these checks was 179 km/h in a 100 km/h zone, with the driver involved facing a hefty fine of 1,400 euros, two points on their license, and a three-month driving ban.

The following day, on Saturday, August 16, traffic police checked traffic on the district road DLG 7 near Wittislingen. The highest speed recorded during these checks was once again 179 km/h in a 100 km/h zone. The driver with the highest speed in Wittislingen also faces the same penalties as the driver from Donauwörth.

The police continue to urge all road users to adhere to speed limits, as excessive or inappropriate speed has been one of the main causes of serious and fatal traffic accidents for years. In Donauwörth, a total of nearly 120 drivers exceeded the speed limit during the checks, highlighting the need for continuous awareness and compliance with traffic rules.
