Increases Production Sites for Imaging Equipment by Philips
Philips Boosts U.S. Presence with Major Investment
Global healthcare technology company, Philips, has announced a significant investment in the United States, aiming to expand its footprint in the market.
The investment, worth over $150 million, will be allocated towards future manufacturing and R&D projects, supporting Philips' growth in the U.S. This move is part of the company's strategy to increase its production capacity and create new jobs.
Two of the primary locations for this expansion are the Reedsville site in Pennsylvania and the image-guided therapy facility in Plymouth, Minnesota.
In Reedsville, the investment will lead to the expansion of the facility, which currently produces AI-enabled ultrasound systems. The expansion will add 24,000 sq ft of manufacturing space and 40,000 sq ft of warehouse space. Following the expansion, the site will focus on customizing the software and configurations of ultrasound systems for specific clinical procedures in cardiovascular, general, and maternal care. This is expected to create 120 skilled manufacturing jobs.
Meanwhile, the expansion of the Plymouth facility will include the construction of a new medtech training center. The image-guided therapy facility in Plymouth, which has not specified a new manager yet, is expected to create more than 150 new jobs.
Philips has been a consistent investor in R&D in the U.S., with annual investments amounting to $900 million, according to the firm. The company's latest investment is a testament to its commitment to innovation and job creation in the country.
While the management of the newly expanded production facilities in Reedsville and Plymouth has not been specified, Philips remains dedicated to its mission of improving people's lives through meaningful innovation.
This investment marks a significant step forward for Philips in the U.S., and the company looks forward to contributing further to the healthcare sector and the economy.
