India expresses unwavering confidence, unfazed by any obstacle: Goyal
In a keynote address at the Platinum Jubilee of the Engineering Export Promotion Council of India held at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi on September 8, 2025, Piyush Goyal emphasized the importance of ensuring good-quality products are made in India and sold across the world.
With the motto of "Zero Defect, Zero Effect," Goyal expressed full confidence in the growth of the Indian industry. He urged businesses to focus on "Made in India" products, including those that can replace import-dependent products.
Goyal called for the acceptance of the Aatmanirbhar Bharat call to action, which encourages self-reliance and local manufacturing. He emphasized the need for India to maintain its status as a trusted partner in the global market.
During his speech, Goyal mentioned and invited countries including the United States and the European Union. He addressed challenges with U.S. tariffs and EU climate-related trade measures while emphasizing global trade opportunities for India. The event was attended by heads of mission from various countries, indicating a broad international participation.
However, Goyal also acknowledged potential hurdles that businesses might face. He pointed out that any country might impose export controls or restrict important products from reaching India, as was seen this year with export restrictions imposed by Beijing on rare earth and fertilizer supplies, affecting Indian industries including EV makers.
Despite these challenges, Goyal remained optimistic about India's future in the global market. He encouraged businesses to strive for quality and self-reliance, emphasizing that these values will help India continue to be a trusted partner in the global market.
