Maruti Suzuki, one of India's leading automobile manufacturers, has announced the addition of a new SUV to its portfolio - the Victoris. This new model, inspired by the Grand Vitara, is set to join the list of cars to look out for in India in 2025.
The Victoris will be part of Maruti Suzuki's utility vehicle lineup, offering six variants: LXi, VXi, ZXi, ZXi(O), ZXi+, and ZXi+ (O). The base model, LXi, and the top-end trim, ZXi+ (O), will cater to different segments of the market.
The Victoris boasts a modern design and a host of features. It is equipped with a floating 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with built-in apps, OTA updates, Alexa voice assist, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. The SUV also features an eight-speaker Infinity (Harman) music system with Dolby Atmos support.
The Victoris will also be the first SUV in the Arena lineup to feature a powered driver's seat with ventilation and a powered tailgate with gesture control.
In terms of power, the Victoris is powered by a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine with mild-hybrid, strong-hybrid, and CNG versions. It offers three different transmission options. The top trims also feature Suzuki All-Grip (AWD) technology. Maruti Suzuki claims the Victoris will offer up to 28.65 kmpl of fuel economy depending on the powertrain. The Victoris is also the first Arena model to get strong hybrid technology and an underbody CNG tank, a first for Maruti Suzuki and the Indian automotive industry.
The Victoris will be competing in the best SUVs in India category, going head-to-head with the likes of the Hyundai Creta and Tata Curvv. It may also compete with the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder and Citroen C3X.
Maruti Suzuki aims to capture a larger market share with the introduction of the Victoris. With the Victoris, the company is expanding its SUV portfolio, which already includes models like Fronx, Brezza, Jimny, and Grand Vitara. In the MPV segment, Maruti Suzuki has models like Ertiga, XL6, and Invicto.
The Victoris has undergone rigorous safety tests and has received a five-star Bharat NCAP crash test rating, ensuring the safety of its passengers.
The Maruti Suzuki Victoris will be available first in India only in summer 2023 due to its initial production and market launch strategy targeting the Indian market during that period. With its modern design, advanced features, and competitive pricing, the Victoris is sure to be a contender in India's bustling SUV market.
